FLAME HAND-KNIT CARDIGAN KNIT

A burning American flag signals multiplicities. Though long associated with dissent, it can also symbolize reverence: according to the American Legion's Officer's Guide and Manual of Ceremonies, the proper way to retire a flag is to commit it to "a clean and purging flame." It's an image full of paradox: of destruction and renewal, of the political and the personal, of cultural and environmental, of ceremony and degradation. Thus our SS24 collection prompts its wearers to speculate, "How are we supposed to treat this flag? This country? This earth?"

   

Our signature Stuffie cardigan is hand-knit with thick cotton yarn depicting yellow and red flames. Includes a flag Stuffie that can be either tucked in a pocket or left out to hang. (For those with a sharp eye: Try to spot the hidden "SHF" in the flames.)
